Namasute

Throughout 1.5 hours of Bikram hot yoga class today, I could not stop myself from thinking about cooking.

I was kind of hungry..., but, not just that.
When I start thinking about food, it would not stop until I complete the process of creating the list of ingredients, and also the image of finished plate. The image of complete dish is pretty vivid and clear.

Then, once I have a dish completed in my head, I start thinking about other dishes to accompany it and it becomes a five course dinner.

Today's distraction...

Agenasu dengaku:
Chilled deep-fried eggplant with hot and sweet miso sauce

Kaburamushi:
Steamed grated Japanese kabu radish with egg white, with thick dashi broth with dungeness crab and mitsuba leaves.

Grilled stuffed tomato:
With cubed pork belly, zucchini, basil, feta, kalamata olive

Mini chirashi kinchaku:
Sushi wrapped in an egg crape with salmon, ikura, shiitake mushroom, lotus roots.

Miso: Clam miso soup

Now, I may as well open a speakeasy restaurant. (it already kind of is...)

Aw meditation. Concentrate, meditate.
食いしん坊万歳〜♪
Itadakimasu. Namaste.

Carmen Rose King

Carmen Rose King

It is a beautiful name.
It is a beautiful name for a beautiful girl.

Carmen is my really good friend.
She is a girlfriend of my really good friend Lars.

I am thankful for her for teaching me so many things about life.
I am tankful for Lars for finding her so she became a part of my life too.

I know Lars for about 7 years. Carmen and I only know each other for 2 years in Seattle, then she and Lars moved to Buenos Aires a year ago. She left Seattle on April 29th of 2012. It was a sunny day and she was wearing a light yellow dress with ivory cardigan. We were laughing while walking down the street with her suitcase down to Arabica with Lars. 1/3 of the time we are friends, she lives far away but I feel strongly connected to her. She taught me so many things in such short time.

What she taught me:
1. Hot yoga! I go there intensively since the first time she took me at Sweatbox. It's one of the best thing happened to me in life. Built the habit of exercise.
2. The world of Essential oil and 100% natural DIY detergent: I am obsessed with them
3. How to be eco, and how to be non-ego
4. How to find fun in little things and think life is good because we are laughing
5. How to have small projects that makes us happy and be excited about them
6. How to enjoy and appreciate the moment
7. How to be natural beauty
9. How to not react so much and stay calm when someone is having a traumatic experience
10. Pomegranate salad
11. Candles and flowers
12. How to spoil the loved ones

There are more. When someone is a good friend to you, a lot of things remind you of him/her. That is how much impact they gave you. And those are things that are priceless in life. And I hope to be one for my friends someday.

Carmen told me once before that she loves Lars so much that makes her cry just by thinking of him. I kind of feel the same way about her and I hope it's not too much....!!!

If there's all the money and time of the world, I will come see her tomorrow. Since there is never the perfect time for anything, I know I will find a way to her somehow.

I love Carmen so much. So here I wrote a mini blog post.

Loves to my friends.

Cave and Water

My first American movie was Goonies. It was introduced to me by my grandpa ,and I am still thankful for him to make my first impression of America as such exciting, adventurous, and full of dreams.

Hard working grandpa who never stopped studying till his last days, he started to learn internet/email at the age of 80, he is my hero. All my family member told me I look just like my grandpa, and I think it's true... I am not as much of a hard worker as he was, but some behaviors I do feel familier from his. I also must say he influenced me in many ways, I didn't even began to realize until a few years after he passed away. But often times, when people die, you would start to realize/think about this person so much more. I suppose this means he is living inside me, and I am living my life with him.

He spoke multiple languages, always told me I need to speak at least two languages. He was well traveled (mostly for work), went to work till 85, he simply loved his job. Around the time he turned 80 (late 80s), which was about the time that home computer was finally started to spread in Japan, he bought a computer and started to type his own biography in MS word right after it was released. Maybe that's why I am always interested in new technologies.

Anyways I loved Goonies ever since then. And I had a huge crush on Data (was a fan of geeks since then), and it potentially influenced my fantasy of life. Since Goonies, every time I see caves with fountain/waterhole I get really excited. I especially like it if the water is getting some sun light from the top of the cave. I am also born in summer and love ocean. Water and Sun make me happy. I'd love to be a mermaid in my next life. Maybe it's one of the reason why I love Pirates of Caribbean the most at Disney land. This particular combination of cave and emerald green water always immediately takes me back to my childhood fantasy world. In a way, it's a magic.

Now speaking of Goonies, I really wanna go to Cannon beach, and have some beer at Pelican Pub looking at the Goonies rocks.

One of the many things I haven't done and been wanting to do: a road trip to Oregon coast.
